More than 250 patients were moved safely from Calcutta Medical College and Hospital early this morning in central Kolkata after a fire broke out in one of the buildings. To control the smoke and terrifying condition, ten fire engines were called at the spot. Till yet, there are no such reports of any casualties.

Fire started in the pharmacy of the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. After the smoke was spotted around 8 am, fire department was altered immediately. A fire brigade officials reports, “The fire began on the ground floor of the medical college at around 7.58 a.m. The reason behind the blaze is yet to be ascertained.”

However, no flames were seen only black smoke billowed from one of the building.

Apart from firefighters and Kolkata Police, state’s Disaster management authority officials also visited the spot.
