Final preparations begin as Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un set to meet in high-stakes summit

On Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Ritz Carlton, US, and North Korean officials are meeting to negotiate before a sit-down meant to settle a standoff over Pyongyang’s nuclear arsenal.
On Sunday, Trump and Kim arrived in Singapore. Trump traveled to Singapore from Canada, after having a meeting with other world leaders. Through an interpreter, Kim replied Lee, “The entire world is watching the historic summit between (North Korea) and the United States of America, and thanks to your sincere efforts … we were able to complete the preparations for the historic summit,”.
A US official said, “After a handshake scheduled for 9 am Tuesday, Trump and Kim will first meet one on one with translators in a session that could last up to two hours before they open the meeting to their respective advisers”. The American president tweeted Monday morning: “Great to be in Singapore, excitement in the air!”. It’s unclear what Trump and Kim might decide Tuesday.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House press secretary said, “Sung Kim, the US ambassador to the Philippines who has taken the lead on policy negotiations with the North, will hold a “working group” with a North Korean delegation to discuss final preparations for the meeting”. It’s Kim’s pursuit of nuclear weapons that held his meeting with Trump. The meeting was previously meant to get rid of North Korea nuclear weapons. Trump has raised the possibility of signing the agreement of ending the Korean War, by replacing the armistice signed in 1953 with a peace treaty.

3,000 journalists would follow the moves of the North Korean autocrat until he shakes hands with the U.S President on Tuesday. The summit of the two leaders has driven the world into a state of curiosity.  In the recent months’ after, the profusion of the North Korean nuclear missile tests incited a deep feeling for a war.
